Design Technology Teacher

About the role 

We are looking for an experienced Design Technology Teacher who can also offer either Art or Computer Science at Middle School. The ideal candidate will promote high expectations for our students, designing learning activities that are aligned to our school’s curriculum and creating a learning culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved. You will foster an environment of respect within the classroom, facilitating learning through questioning and discussion. 

About you 

You must have experience teaching GCSE. Experience of teaching IB or A-level will be a distinct advantage. You should be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will possess a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification, and considerable teaching experience. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the school’s level of achievement. 

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for the USA which means you must have either British or US Citizenship or already have authorization to work in the USA.

The Visual Arts and Design Thinking neighbourhood boasts two multi-media rooms, a specialist graphics room, makerspace, with laser-cutting and 3-D printing capability, a specialist ceramics room, Academy Visual Arts space and two computer science suites that support electronics and coding. This allows for personalized, flexible and inquiry-based learning approaches that inspires and engages our students. In line with this, we would expect you to have experience with concept-driven, inquiry-based curricula and be able to speak passionately about your impact on student engagement and learning.  

An ideal opportunity for an experienced Design Technology Teacher who can also offer either Art or Computer Science at Middle School. You will have a growth mindset, be able to deal with ambiguity and be motivated by participating fully in all aspects of school life. Ideally you should have experience of Post-16 qualifications and other modern international curricula. You will also be excited about our collaboration with MIT and have creative ideas on how to best use this to maximise the benefit to our students and community.
