Job overview

Trent College is a successful, selective day and boarding school where academic excellence, sporting achievement, musical accomplishment and participation in the arts are all highly prized.

Trent College was one of the first UK independent schools to pioneer the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) as a stand-alone role in the school. In this challenging and rewarding role, the DSL will be at the forefront of our continuous work to maintain the highest standards of safeguarding practice throughout the school.

The DSL role is guided by an extensive framework of guidance and regulations. It is a key area of focus under the inspection arrangements for independent schools.

We welcome applications from suitably experienced applicants who have well-developed organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to make decisions under pressure and manage a varied and challenging workload.

Safeguarding is at the heart of all that we do at Trent College and The Elms. The DSL works with staff to evaluate and address safeguarding concerns whilst ensuring that we fulfil our regulatory obligations with record keeping and information sharing.

The DSL will be joining an established and highly skilled pastoral team that supports children from nursery to 18 years of age, including boarders in the older age groups.

Experience of working in schools may be helpful, but it is not essential. We welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds and will consider how their experience would enable them to provide excellent leadership of our safeguarding practice.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes a generous school fee discount, parking and complimentary use of the excellent leisure and dining facilities.

Full details and an application form can be downloaded from www.trentschools.net/vacancies

Closing date: Noon on Monday 15 April 2024.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
