St Luke's is a Foundation federated with The Collett School to form The Blue Tangerine Federation. The Blue Tangerine Federation is a collaboration of specialist and special education schools. Both schools have Foundation status. St Luke’s School and The Collett School are special educational needs schools for children with complex learning difficulties. St Luke’s School St Luke’s is a wonderful special school for pupils aged 7-16 with learning disabilities and increasingly complex needs. The designation for the school is children with cognitive disabilities including Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Moderate (MLD) learning disabilities.  We welcome applicants to the school who have a passion for enabling our children with special needs to thrive through childhood into adulthood. You will need a great sense of humour, willingness to try new strategies, a love of 'difference' and enthusiasm for delivering a special curriculum that focuses on the individuals' needs, aspiration and enjoyment of learning - no matter how hard the child finds it. St Luke's School is based on a site originally designed for a secondary school and so we have some fantastic features for a special needs school including a wide collection of animals used as part of our curriculum and therapeutic interventions as well as 6 acres used for sports, horticulture and our expanding venture into securing work opportunities on site for our pupils.  Our curriculum is diverse, broad but tailored to the needs of the children through 'pathways' with relevant outcomes.  Staff work across age groups and get to know each child well within Learning Groups, where the teacher and TA’s tend to be with the class for the majority of the school day. You would be joining a staff team of all ages (teens to sixties) and at different stages of their careers. We believe in Continued Professional Development and Learning (CPDL) in order to be a learning school, that has passion, visionary creativity and expertise but is also humble in recognising the need to work in partnerships with parents and many others to get things right.  Hard work, training and personal research, passion and a belief in the abilities of young people with disabilities would be crucial to your success at St Luke's. As a Federation, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A Disclosure and Barring Service check is an essential for this post, as are references which are taken up and robustly checked. Full training is given, as are regular updates and ensurances our children are kept safe.

We look forward to meeting you! Mr Stephen Hoult-Allen (Executive Headteacher) Mr Jamie Caple (Head of School) Within The Blue Tangerine family, diversity is an integral part of our history, culture, and identity. Inclusion is the way we treat and perceive all differences. We want to create an inclusive culture where all forms of diversity are seen as real value for our schools.  We do not discriminate against people regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, neurodiversity, disability status, citizenship, or any other aspect which makes them unique.
