Designated Safeguarding Lead

The Westgate School is seeking a dedicated Designated Safeguarding Leader to work alongside our Deputy Headteacher, who leads safeguarding on our Senior Leadership Team.

As the DSL, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and protection of our students, with a particular focus on online safety. This is a fantastic chance to support the leadership of safeguarding and child protection across our entire school community. You will have the opportunity to put your strong background in safeguarding to great use, making a real difference to the lives of children and families.

As part of this role, you will have the privilege of working with a diverse range of professionals, leading, managing and collaborating with staff and external agencies across disciplines such as child protection, attendance, counselling services, and staff and student welfare. Your expertise and leadership skills will be invaluable in supporting our dedicated staff and shaping a safe and nurturing environment for all.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience working with children and families who may face behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health challenges. This is a term time only role, however the salary will be paid at the full time rate. This is with the expectation that you will be available to work during all school holiday periods.

Hours of work:-

8.00am - 4.00pm Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 3.30pm Friday (37 hours weekly)

Actual Salary NJC Level 7 Points 30-35 £37,300 to £42,498 per annum

You will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
