Two Rivers High School

Our school meets the needs of 255 pupils with special needs including ADHD, autism, speech, language and communication difficulties and social & emotional difficulties. Awarded in January 2019, Two Rivers High School is an Outstanding School for pupils with Special Educational Needs.

 

Purpose of the role

The successful candidate will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school (including online safety) within our current safeguarding team. You will also play a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children across the school, using effective communication methods to raise safeguarding concerns to the headteacher regarding issues linked to individuals/families/whole school. 

 

You will confidently ensure the school provides up to date, relevant advice/training and support to enable the Two Rivers community to have the knowledge and understanding of all safeguarding policies and practices they must adhere to. Your role is also pivotal in ensuring you advise and support other members of staff on child welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters, and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police. 

Using your depth of knowledge and experience you will also work within the pastoral and safeguarding teams to assist with the development of pastoral programmes in school to keep children safe.

We are looking for someone who has:

 

  • Experience as an established practitioner who aspires to join an effective management team.
  • Understanding and knowledge of severe learning difficulties including ASD and how to safeguard these children.
  • A range of people management skills and an ability to tackle issues and be accountable and responsible for decisions.
  • A track record of leading in whole/departmental initiatives.
  • Accurate recording abilities.
  • Has high standards and expectations of themselves and the children
  • Is creative, enthusiastic and has a positive ‘can do’ approach
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a dedicated, hardworking team
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills
