Job overview

The London Oratory School invites you to apply for the dynamic post of Development, Alumni and Arts Centre Manager.  Trad, but quirky, The London Oratory School is amongst the city’s most prestigious state-funded Catholic schools.  Educating boys from 7 to 18, with girls in the sixth form, it puts a strong emphasis on the arts, especially music with a liturgical twist – but that’s not all, so do please visit our website for a fuller flavour: www.london-oratory.org!

The School enjoys a competitive salary scale and a supportive and collegial culture to recognise and reward the very committed body of staff that make up its Common Room.

If interested in this exciting, creative and imaginative post, please submit an Application Form with a CV and Covering Letter to hmsec@los.ac by Friday 15th November at 4pm.

Our invitation:

We are recruiting for a Development, Alumni and Arts Centre Manager to join our supportive and collegial non-teaching operations staff.  The successful candidate will benefit from, and be able to contribute to, a well-ordered, warm-hearted and highly disciplined school.  Whether you have worked in either of these capacities before (Development or Arts Centre), or whether you are simply interested in broadening your transferable skills into differing contexts, your application is most encouraged.  The School puts a high premium on the Arts and enjoys a strong, warm and deep-rooted community over time: it also enjoys a wide alumni network and touches the hearts of those so connected with the School.

Your gifts:

We invite applicants from either an Arts Centre management/administrator background, or a Development/fundraising background looking to take on a wider challenge.  Either way, you will have a degree of expertise in either field, be an empathetic communicator and a real energiser, keen to share your enthusiasm for what is possible and a major asset to the School.  And, either way, we will give you all the support you need to develop your potential as a first class Development/Arts Centre manager.

Our School:

In addition to first class, tasteful facilities (including on-site parking, a gym and swimming pool) and a highly competitive salary package, here are five reasons as to why you might consider working with us:

1. Our vision: A compelling vision of what a distinctively Catholic education should look like, open to the world and fitting pupils to move through it with panache and confidence;

2. Our pupils: Well-disciplined, switched on, cosmopolitan - and quirky - supported in their growth by skilled staff and a tightly structured pastoral system;

3. Our staff: A highly collegial Common Room;

4.  Our community:  Highly committed and supportive alumni and parents

5. Your future: An innovative staff development programme that looks to support you in growing in your vocation, in a School that is keen to think through the implications of cutting edge systems and processes.

Your call:

Closing date: 15th November at 4pm

Applications will be considered as they are submitted; the School reserves the right to interview before the closing date.

We understand that timing is essential in all successful relationships, and so, if now is less than ideal for you, please do consider putting you CV and details in our ‘drop box’ on the ‘Recruitment’ tab on our website (www.london-oratory.org) and we’ll be sure to keep you in view.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. We are an equal opportunities employer.

About The London Oratory School

Trad but quirky, The London Oratory School is a mainstream, Roman Catholic, all-through school with sixth form, situated in Fulham, south-west London. Founded in 1863 by the Fathers of the Oratory, we cater for boys aged seven to eighteen and have approximately 1,330 pupils enrolled.  Girls are admitted to the Sixth form.

We encourage all staff to get involved in our vibrant school life. The school is committed to developing staff and growing their skillset through CPD.  We have first class facilities which all staff are encouraged to use (including free lunch, Friday cake, on-site parking, a state of the art gym and swimming pool).

The school moved to its present site in 1970. In September 1989, the voluntary-aided school became grant-maintained. A Junior House was added next to the Arts Centre in September 1996.

Headmaster

Mr D. Wright M.A (Cantab)
