Digital Design Teacher 0.5 FTE (Senior School)

The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of concept-based inquiry, and a passion for sustainability, and be experienced in guiding students through the Design cycle process. He/she will have the capability to deliver a high standard of education aligned with the School’s Mission, Vision and Values delivered via the International Baccalaureate’s Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), and in preparation for IBDP Design and Technology.

What will you do on a day-to-day basis? 

Our MYP students are currently engaged in an exciting practical Design course that develops their creative thinking and problem-solving skills using a range of digital technologies. Our new Design Teacher would be experienced in supporting students to develop their computer aided design skills, traditional drawing techniques, and understanding of electronics and systems. Students will require guidance in using the department’s various resources, including coding programmes, 3D printing, laser cutting and soldering. Experience of the IB Middle Years Programme, including the design of authentic assessments for an inclusive learning environment, would be highly valued. What will you bring to the table? 

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills, experience and qualifications: 

• A minimum 4-year recognized teaching qualification, including a Bachelor’s Degree and PGCE or equivalent teaching diploma (e.g. B.Ed.) 
• Minimum 3 years IB teaching experience 
• Excellent fluency in English (verbal and written) 
• An innovator, committed to learning and up-to-date with current research 
• An inspiring, challenging and empowering educational motivator 
• Visible, approachable, with excellent interpersonal skills and a good sense of humour 
• Flexible, creative and resilient 
• An excellent communicator and able to build on the reputation of the school
