Job overview

The Harris Federation is a leading Multi Academy Trust with 50 primary and secondary academies across London and Essex. As part of our growth and support to academies, we have created a brand-new position within our central team for a technology specialist educator. As the Digital Learning Lead for the Federation, you will innovate and implement best practice approaches in the educational use of digital technology across the Harris Federation.

Your opportunity

We are looking to appoint a Digital Learning Lead to our Head Office Central Team. The successful candidate will join a growing team of consultants who, as subject specialists, work with our academies to drive innovation, share best practice and support Principals with their academy improvement plans.

You will join an established team of practitioners who work to further raise standards and drive improvements across the Harris Federation. The successful candidate will be expected to work strategically with Principals to identify the best uses of digital technology to promote learning, by engaging with the research and by working across our academies in consultation with teachers and Principals. This is an exciting post providing enormous scope for a talented and creative practitioner to work collaboratively across a group of academies.

Although based at the Harris Federation offices close to East Croydon Station (with fast access to central London and the M25), the role will mostly be located within the academies and will require regular travel.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for an experienced leader, who has a genuine passion for technology and its applied uses to aid in student learning. As this is a brand-new role  we are ideally looking for someone with  management experience, ideally but not necessarily at Head of Department level or aspiring senior leader or indeed someone with Digital  expertise from a related sector who has a real passion for the impact that high quality digital education can make. The post would suit an ambitious leader looking either to broaden their expertise and responsibilities, or who may be considering a future leadership pathway to their first headship or career in Digital Education.

Ideally we are looking for someone with:

  • A relevant undergraduate degree and or professional qualifications
  • At least 5 years educational experience, and at least two years in a management role
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with EdTech and classroom digital technologies

Responsibilities

The post holder will develop and lead the implementation of best practice approaches in the educational use of digital technology across the Harris Federation. Through your leadership and networking within the Federation you will ensure the best approaches to improving educational outcomes are strategized, implemented, evaluated and are widely disseminated. Your work will involve the development of a Federation-wide Digital Learning strategy, building coalitions to implement and test this and then to disseminate the work. You will produce a wide range of training resources working with Digital Learning Leaders in each Academy and you will Chair the Federation Digital Strategy Group, which will inform the priorities of the Federation IT team.
