Job overview

We are proud of our Diocesan Board of Education and it’s work with our 207 church schools and are seeking a new Director of Education to consolidate the previous excellent work forged over many years.

We want someone who will relish our relational culture and inspire and empower colleagues, providing dynamic leadership and support that has Christian beliefs and values at its heart, and to be a well-informed advocate for the church’s engagement in education at the core of the wider Diocesan mission.

The right candidate will ideally:

  • have experience of working with Church of England schools and/or academies at a senior leadership level;
  • Be highly approachable, relational and collaborative and able to embrace interdependence;
  • Exude energy and passion in all that they do; inspiring confidence in the team;
  • Be able to engage theologically across the spectrum of Anglican traditions and with other Christian denominations.

This is a post to which an Occupational Requirement under paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010 applies, the requirement being that the post holder is a practising Christian.
