Solihull College & University Centre plays a crucial role locally and in the West Midlands region, actively embracing the employment and skills agenda to establish first class links with employers.


We wish to recruit an inspirational and dynamic Director to ensure the College is positioned to maximise the opportunities for apprenticeships, in particular those at higher level, and enhance its position as first choice training provider. In this challenging and rewarding role you will lead on the College’s employer engagement and sales strategy, identifying and securing new sources of funding, and work with curriculum managers to develop programmes which meet employers’ needs.


With proven success in working with employers and key stakeholders to respond to current and future local and regional skills requirements, you will be experienced in writing successful employer related bids and have high levels of influencing and negotiating skills gained in an employment and skills environment.

As a major provider of both further and higher education provision in the West Midlands, our aim is simple – to make significant contributions to the local and regional economies and beyond, by providing high quality vocational education and training for individuals, employers and the wider community.   As such, our provision is designed to be up to date, flexible, accessible and responsive to all our customers’ needs, serving approximately 7,000 students across two main campuses, several satellite centres and on work based programmes.  We have state of the art facilities and an excellent learning/working environment, including a sports complex, aeronautical and aviation centre, arts centre and specialist vocational workshops.


At present we employ 269 salaried teaching and assessing staff.  We also employ 256 administrative staff, 38 managers and approximately 200 hourly paid teachers and assessors.  Solihull College and University Centre is rightly proud of its reputation within the sector and with employers and the community if serves.  These are challenging times for the education sector and the College continues to maintain a strong financial position enabling it to invest in its human and physical resources to provide outstanding opportunities for its learners.  We recognise that, ultimately it is out people, their drive, commitment and vision that will take us in the direction we want to go.
