A permanent vacancy exists within the corporate management team of Pembrokeshire County Council for a Director for Education.
As Director for Education, you will manage the portfolio of services for schools and all matters relating to school age children and contribute to the corporate management of the organisation.
The successful applicant will be responsible for discharging the statutory duties and responsibilities of the role of Director for Education including responsibilities of Chief Education Officer.
The post holder will be responsible for the effective operation of the Council’s Education Services including providing strategic advice to the Cabinet Member for Education and the wider Cabinet on the vision for education in Pembrokeshire.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to the corporate management of the organisation and to deliver services that safeguard children, improve educational attainment and focus on outcomes, ensuring that the 'children's voice' is heard in all aspects of the directorate's work.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record in education leadership and raising standards of education and skills. You will be able to demonstrate innovative, visible leadership and deliver strategic vision focused on strong performance management. Working with a variety of partners, you will demonstrate your ability to positively influence and negotiate to deliver successful outcomes.
As an experienced education professional, you will have a strong record of successful organisational change, possess strong leadership skills and an ability to empower, motivate and develop staff, creating a positive inclusive organisational culture and value diversity.
You will be skilled in managing the delivery of a range of services, programmes of work or major projects with an engaging and empowering leadership style. Candidates will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and must hold Qualified Teacher Status.
