Job overview

To inspire, encourage and empower our students to achieve their very best in the subject of Drama, Monmouth School for Girls seeks to appoint a Director in Residence to deliver quality practical support in Drama and the Performing Arts. We are looking for a dedicated and friendly individual who is also an ambitious and visionary practitioner of Drama.

A sound academic background in theatre is highly desirable and we expect candidates for the post to be recent Drama graduates or post-graduates or to have had considerable experience in working in youth theatre. Musical skills would be very useful in addition to practical directing experience.

Most of the work of the Director in Residence will be during term time but there is also an expectation that the person appointed will spend some of the school holiday periods taking rehearsals and participating in theatre workshops and festivals.

The appointment is for a fixed period of one year from September 2019. Pay is dependent on experience and accommodation will form part of the remuneration package.

Monmouth School For Girls is an independent day and boarding school based in Monmouthshire for girls aged 11-18. 

The school was founded in 1892 and is part of the family of Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, which owe their existence to William Jones, a liveryman of the Haberdashers’ Company, who bequeathed funds to establish a school in 1614. Entry to the school is selective and, where possible, pupils are interviewed.
