Owned and run by Highfield School, the Summer School provides outstanding English language tuition for overseas students aged 8-15 years, as well as offering a three week taster of all the fun, sports and activities which are part of life in a real English Country Boarding School.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate individual with a thorough understanding and experience of delivering first rate pastoral care, as well as experience of managing a Boarding House or similar.  The Director of Boarding & Pastoral Care will have overall responsibility for the care and experience of the students, and act as the key point of contact for parents during the course. This is a key leadership role in our Summer School. In conjunction with the Director of Studies and the Course Director, the successful candidate will play an integral part in the direction and development of the course. As such, the position may be desirable for an applicant wishing to gain further managerial experience for a future leadership role in a school.


The post holder must be available to work from 8th July to 4th August 2019. As a member of the leadership team, the Director of Boarding & Pastoral Care will also be expected to be contactable to answer queries related to planning the programme prior to the course. 


Qualifications:

The Director of Boarding & Pastoral Care must have the ability to build a caring, friendly and positive rapport with children and parents alike, whilst at the same time, being able to deal with discipline issues and set appropriate boundaries. Experience of managing staff and working within a residential context is essential. 


The successful applicant will be extremely organised, efficient and able to work in a busy, fast-paced and often challenging environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work calmly, effectively and positively, even whilst under pressure. Applicants with Level 3 safeguarding training and experience of being a DSL are particularly encouraged to apply. Medical training, or a professional qualification in child care, social work, education, counselling or psychotherapy would also be advantageous, though not essential.


Salary & Benefits: 

The total salary for role is £2350 (including statutory holiday pay). Accommodation, as well as all meals and refreshments are provided for the duration of the course, and staff are able to enjoy the stunning Highfield grounds and facilities in their spare time when not in use by the school.
