Collège du Léman is an international day and boarding school, situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, Switzerland. We currently have over 1800 students aged between 2-18 years from more than 100 nationalities, studying diverse and demanding academic programmes and taking part in an outstanding co-curricular programme. Of these students, over 200 are boarders. Director of Boarding  

Main Purpose of the Role

The Director of Boarding will be resident near the college campus and be a member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team. He/she will be responsible for the Boarding Programme, but also manage the Activities Department, Camps Department and the Medical Centre. Ideally the successful candidate will start early in 2017, but will definitely need to be in place by 01 August 2017.

This post involves ensuring the day to day pastoral care of students and the management of Houseparent and other Boarding Staff. The successful candidate will need to have a proven record of excellent leadership within a boarding environment, ideally in an international context, be innovative, dynamic and possess a ‘can do’ attitude.

This is a senior position that carries a high degree of responsibility in developing and leading a comprehensive and fulfilling community living experience for our valued boarders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and develop the pastoral and academic care program for the boarders
  • Manage and lead the boarding staff to ensure the smooth operation and the day to day running of the boarding house
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with boarding students, their parents, school staff and relative external agencies
  • Ensure a safe and comfortable boarding experience
  • Manage all policies, procedures and communications relevant to boarding
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan in order to achieve organizational goals for the Boarding House
  • Ensure health and safety in the Boarding House facilities by conducting risk identification, risk assessment and risk control.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (knowledge of French is an additional asset)
  • Outstanding interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage a team
  • Confidence to exercise initiative and judgement

Required Preferred

  • Qualification University Diploma Possession of a teaching qualification would be an asset
  • Experience A previous experience in a Leadership role within a Boarding School
  • Prior Knowledge Excellent English skills – with good knowledge of French
