We are looking for a talented and passionate leader who will help develop the College further towards our goal of becoming a centre of excellence for business and computing related subjects, strengthening especially our A Level provision through innovative curriculum development, cutting-edge teaching and learning methods, using data effectively and encouraging a collegiate and stimulating environment for students and staff alike. Bolton Sixth Form College offers a mix of A Levels and BTEC courses in the department and is located in Bolton, Greater Manchester; easily commutable from most of the cities and towns in the North West via the M60, M61, M62 and M56.
Business and computing is a large department within the College with – there are 434 students studying business related courses (Business, Economics and Accounting) and 247 studying computing or IT. Our BTEC is outstanding with a D*-D pass rate of 98% at Extended Diploma and 92 for the Subsidiary Diploma Courses. Our A level is generally good (and in some areas outstanding) but we believe there is strong potential for improvement to properly deliver the aspirations of all our students.
The post would be ideal for someone with a successful proven record of accomplishment in achieving high added value in A level Business (in a Sixth Form College, GFE College or 11-18 schools with experience of key stage 5) and with examiner, senior examiner experience (though not essential). We are seeking an individual with ambition and drive, and who sees a directorate of faculty leadership position as the next step in their career. The ability to contribute to other subjects in the department and BTEC experience would be useful but is not essential.
