THE POST
This new post offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, dynamic, experienced and well qualified
university and/or careers guidance counsellor.
The successful candidate will work across the three sections of the school to develop, implement
and embed a broad, deep and cutting-edge careers and university guidance programme that
increasingly encompasses guidance for tertiary education across a range of different nations
including the UK, the US, Canada and continental Europe. The post holder will also be responsible
for developing and enhance the school’s relationship with its global alumni community.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
To develop a world class university and careers guidance programme
To lead the university application process
To arrange regular visits from university and college representatives to the school
To arrange university fairs and support the attendance of pupils at local university fairs
To build and maintain relationships with university admissions professionals
To develop strong alumni links to augment the university and careers guidance programme
To educate families about the various universities and college admissions processes to
include financial aid and scholarship possibilities
To guide students and their families through the university admissions and application processes
To monitor individual student progress throughout the university application process

To maintain a strong working knowledge of colleges and universities around the world and to show an active research interest in developments throughout the sector
To develop and maintain tracking and analysis tools to monitor the success of the careers and university guidance programme
To oversee the growth and development of the school’s online Alumni Portal
To develop an alumni development funding programme
To highlight and showcase activities and achievements across the areas of university admissions, careers and alumni in collaboration with the Head of Admissions and Marketing

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To be an ambassador of St George’s at all times, in school and in Italy
To carry out other professional duties as required by the Principal
PASTORAL
To show an active interest in each child’s personal and domestic circumstances, and to foster the personal and social developments of each pupil in your care
To actively promote the social, moral and cultural ethos of the school community
To create an atmosphere of support by being aware of, and fully compliant with, all of the school’s pastoral policies
To be familiar with all the school’s policies on Health and Safety and be proactive in ensuring the safety of all members of the school community at all times
To promote exemplary behaviour and a responsible attitude amongst pupils
To be aware of and act upon all policies regarding the safeguarding of children
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To promote pride in the school among the pupil body through high standards of dress behaviour and commitment
To ensure that all communication is acted upon appropriately and in a timely manner
To attend Parents’ Evenings, Assemblies and other school events during term time as the Principal may from time to time require

To be responsible for all school resources, particularly those in your care, reporting damage or loss to the appropriate authority within the school
To contribute to the virtual learning environment, the website, social media and publications in support of your work

To foster a close partnership with parents, universities and alumni initiating contact in appropriate circumstances and ensuring that there is a record of this
To carry out any reasonable professional request made by the Principal or Head of School
FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
A good Honours Degree (or equivalent)
A masters degree and a record of research in a relevant field is desirable
A distinguished record of university and careers guidance
A strong record of professional development
Working knowledge of UCAS, the US college and university system as well as those of other key nations
