Director of Drama

We are seeking to appoint a visionary and dynamic Director of Drama with an energetic passion for their subject and the desire to nurture that in young people.

They will have a belief in the profound importance of the arts, within our school community and beyond, together with the personal skills to lead a lively team, manage a busy industry standard theatre and plan and organise a stimulating repertoire of events. The successful applicant will be expected to direct productions as well as teach Drama through to A Level, although it is not necessary to be a qualified teacher. We are encouraging applications both from the education and professional arts sector.

Benenden has been one of the leading boarding schools in Britain for more than 90 years. We were founded in 1923 and are situated in 240 acres of attractive parkland in Kent. There are 541 girls in the school, aged 11-18, with approximately 180 of those in the Sixth Form. Benenden is at the forefront of girls’ education in the UK, with recent innovations including the Benenden Diploma, a bespoke curriculum for our youngest two year groups, and the Professional Skills Programme, teaching the Sixth Form skills for the workplace. We are an ambitious school, with recent developments including a state-of-the-art Science Centre and All-Weather Sports Pitch, and we are currently working to establish a new School Hall and Music School.

Meals are provided to staff whilst on duty. The School’s leisure facilities, including a fitness gym and swimming pool are available for staff to use.
