Job overview

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an inspirational educator to lead our School and College.

St Elizabeth's is a unique charitable organisation providing life-long living and learning opportunities for people with severe epilepsy, associated neurological disorders, learning disabilities and other complex medical needs.  We operate a School and Children’s Home, a Specialist Further Education College and Adult Residential Care.

Education services lie at the core of our strategy, but for the young people and adults in our care.  So in addition to looking for expansion in student numbers in both our school and college over the next three years (without diluting the high quality of these services) we are also seeking to expand our education and skills development with our adult clients, equipping them to lead the most fulfilling, independent lives possible.

We seek to become a Centre of Excellence in all that we do. As such, we are looking to appoint a creative and entrepreneurial Director who will play a key part in our Executive Leadership Team and has the vision and dynamism to turn our strategy into a reality. We are looking for an individual who has held a senior leadership role, has a sound understanding of Special Needs learners and will provide our teams with the inspiration to deliver excellent outcomes for our clients.

We welcome applications from credible, proven leaders whose personal values and ambitions align with ours.

Values and vision

Rooted in Christian, gospel values, St Elizabeth’s exists to offer to vulnerable people individually designed education, care and support services that maximise their opportunities to live life to the full.

The skills of numeracy, literacy and communication are embedded within the waking day curriculum of living and learning at the College. The College is committed to providing learning opportunities that will be relevant and useful to learners in their everyday life, meet their needs and enhance their quality of life. The learning programme is accredited through City & Guilds. This gives a flexible, modular structure that has a range of outcomes. Functional skills are embedded within the learning. The curriculum is also designed to provide learning experiences and opportunities to meet the holistic needs and interests of the learners.

Ofsted

“Learners benefit from good, specialist medical support. Teachers and LSAs are very skilful at managing medical incidents, such as seizures, and implement the strategies devised by the multidisciplinary team, so that learners can live and work in a calm atmosphere, and participate in activities wherever possible.”
