  We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Director of Education who can work with the Chief Executive, Headteachers and members of the Central Team to improve the effectiveness of schools in the Oxfordshire region initially, and raise standards through strong and exceptional leadership and management. The specific focus is to improve the quality of learning and teaching.  You will need to be a strategic leader who:

  •Is dynamic and motivational with a proven, successful record of improving student achievement; 

 •Leads by example;

  •Is able to inspire and motivate staff; 

 •Is an excellent, engaging communicator who will develop strong relationships with school leadership teams, governors, directors, staff and young people.

 Suitable candidates will be qualified teachers with both primary and secondary experience and/or knowledge, and have at least two years’ experience of working at senior leadership team level in a school context. A thorough understanding of school improvement strategies, quality assurance systems and effective pedagogy is essential.  You should be a confident user of data with excellent analysis and presentation skills, be highly literate and able to demonstrate a commitment to our vision, ethos and purpose.  

This is a permanent position with a leadership salary which is negotiable based on your level of experience and suitability.  We are looking for a full time candidate preferably, however part time or job share arrangements may also be considered for an outstanding candidate.  

The MILL Academy registered offices are based at The Henry Box School in West Oxfordshire, but the Director of Education will be expected to be able to travel often to any school in the Trust and other schools looking to join the Trust.    An informal discussion with our Chief Executive is strongly encouraged so that you can get a sense of what we are about and our expectations for this key position.
