Job overview

Oxford Spires Academy has the exciting opportunity to appoint a Director of English Specialism to join and lead its thriving, friendly and collaborative faculty from September 2018. The position would suit an exceptional English practitioner with a proven track record of success and ambition who is able to build excellent relationships with students as well as leading and inspiring an established and successful team of professionals.

The English Faculty is enthusiastic, friendly, creative, forward thinking and high achieving. Our students have met with significant success at GCSE and also won a host of national debating and poetry competitions including the Foyle and the Betjeman prize. As a specialism of the Academy, English is well supported by the EAL department, a literacy co-ordinator, a specialist co-ordinator, a librarian and a writer in residence and we look to appoint an outstanding individual who will add to the Faculty’s existing strengths and develop others. We heavily invest in our professional development and provide the opportunity, through the Oxford Deanery and Oxford University, to complete a Masters qualification in Education. If you would like to discuss the post further, or arrange a visit to the academy please contact Helen Beech, Head of Faculty on 01865 428200 or email hbeech@oxfordspiresacademy.org.

To apply for this post please complete an application form which is available from our website www.oxfordspiresacademy.org or contact Sandra Jaggers, Principal’s PA, on 01865 428200 and sjaggers@oxfordspiresacademy.org.   Oxford Spires Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
