Aim of the role 

The DoER will oversee the School’s communications, lead and manage the Marketing Team, the Development function of the School and also be the champion of the Friends of the School (including Alumnae). They will also work closely with and contribute to the Admissions process. They will exhibit a passion for promoting a Badminton education, at both Junior and Senior School levels. 

Teams 

The DoER is a member of the Extended Senior Management Team. The work strands managed by DoER include the Marketing Team (consisting of Marketing Manager and Marketing Intern) and Alumnae and Friends of the School (currently resourced by a part time Alumnae and Events Administrator, as well as a part time “Honorary Secretary”). Whilst the DoER will lead the Development function (with the guidance of the School’s external Development Consultant) at present there is no specific Development admin support, but the Marketing Intern will assist in this regard and the School is committed to adding resource in this area over time. These teams work together in a shared designated office space in the heart of the School. 

The Director of External Relations will:  

• Be a member of the extended SMT and, as such, take an active approach to whole School issues and uphold the school’s vison and aims accordingly; 

• Take a strategic lead in their areas of responsibility; 

Establish and Lead the School’s Development function; 

Direct the strategy for and  line manage the School’s Marketing team; 

Lead and manage all aspects of the School’s Alumnae, friends and community; 

• Actively assist in promoting the School; 

• Work with the Operations Manager to host and promote events.    

Accountability  

The Director of External Relations is line managed by the Headmistress. All staff are accountable to the Director of Studies on academic matters, to the Deputy Head on matters of welfare and discipline, to the Director of Finance and Operations on financial matters, to the Head of Junior School on Junior School matters and ultimately to the Headmistress.
