Peponi School
Director of Extra Curricular Activities

Peponi School is an international, co-educational school in Kenya set about twenty-five kilometres outside Nairobi near Ruiru. It was founded in 1989 and has been very fortunate to enjoy very early success and would now be rated amongst the best schools in the Kenyan education system. Peponi School follows the British system through to IGCSE and A level. The School is situated in our own very spacious grounds within Northlands.  Our pupils have developed a fine reputation for success in the classroom, on the games field and for both Music and Drama.  Our unashamedly holistic approach, as a boarding school, is a key feature of our aims.  Extra-curricular activities are very much part of school life.

Peponi School is one of the leading British Curriculum Schools in Kenya and prepares its pupils for entry to universities in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada. Most of our leavers enter Law, Economics, Science, Medical and Engineering courses.

As an exceptional school, we are looking for an enthusiastic, organised, positive and open minded teacher for the post of Director of Extra-Curricular Activities starting in August 2020. It would be an advantage if the candidate has had experience in a leadership role, organising extra-curricular activities (including the President’s Award) as well as being able to inspire and motivate staff and students. Our extra-curricular programme is extensive and includes organising activities for our full time boarders at the weekends.

The post holder must be able to build and plan a varied and enriching programme of extra-curricular activities to ensure the holistic development of students, both in school hours during activity time slots and at the weekend for the boarders. You would also be required to make schedules and arrangements of facilities and personnel for all scheduled extra-curricular events such as performing arts/prize giving/ music festivals etc. Another important aspect of the role is to keep accurate records and control the student attendance to all extra-curricular activities. There is a teaching commitment attached to this role. The Headmaster is flexible with the specialist subject.

Peponi School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people in our care. We follow safe recruitment practices and appointments are subject to vetting including reference checks, identity and criminal record checks.

Interested applicants should download and complete the Peponi School Teacher Application Form. Guidance on how to complete the form can be found in the Peponi School’s Guidance Notes for Application. Your email should be addressed to: applicants@peponischool.org

Interested applicants should also write a letter of application, and send it by e-mail before or on Friday, 22nd November 2019.

Interviews will be held in London during the week beginning Monday, 9th December 2019.

Because of the volume of applications, it will not be possible to respond to all candidates.
