Job overview

British School Muscat (BSM) is Oman's leading British school. Granted a Royal Charter by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 1973, BSM is proud to be the only not-for-profit British school in Muscat providing high quality education to children aged 3-18. The school's vision is to provide a world-class British education where everyone is valued, respected and inspired to learn. Its mission is to grow learners who are best for the world. BSM promotes an approach, the BSM Learning Ethos, which underpins learning and teaching throughout the school. To prepare its pupils for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, the School values learning that focuses on high performance in public examinations, healthy living and well-being, character development and global citizenship. The aim of the BSM Learning Ethos is to support and nurture its pupils to grow into hard-working and secure individuals, agile and resourceful learners, and empathetic and respectful contributors.

The Board of Governors is currently seeking to appoint a Director of Finance and Business Development, to commence in August 2022, who will be responsible for the financial management of the school as well as its partner school, British School Salalah (BSS) and any other future British School Oman entities. The post will hold responsibility for all facilities management, including day to day site management, maintenance, health, safety and security along with ongoing continuous improvement projects for BSM and BSS. Business Development will also be a major responsibility of the role, to maximise the revenue generated from the assets of the school such as sports facilities and the Oryx theatre. The postholder will be expected to hold the role of Clerk to the Board of Governors.
