Dunraven is a Single Academy Trust with permission to develop as an academy sponsor. We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance and Operations. Dunraven School is a large all-through academy which will have 1700 students on roll by 2020. We are underpinned by our commitment to Excellence for All.

This is an exciting and highly responsible role and the successful candidate will work closely with the Principal, Heads of School and Trustees. The Director of Finance and Operations is a key member of the executive team and will play a central role in the planning and delivery of the Trust’s objectives.

The Director of Finance and Operations has overall responsibility for the financial, corporate and commercial management of the Trust. This will include ensuring that all statutory accounts and returns are completed and submitted and ensuring that systems are regularly reviewed to support this.  They will also lead the support services in Dunraven School and will be responsible for procurement .  

The successful candidate will:

  • have an excellent understanding of financial policies and procedures
  • have excellent interpersonal skills
  • have proven financial experience, including the ability to complete the statutory accounts and ESFA financial returns
  • have experience of VAT and cash management
  • be able to produce accurate budgets and management accounts
  • be a strategic financial planner and thinker
  • be able to use their own initiative with excellent time management skills
  • enjoy working in a fast paced school environment
  • be supportive and hardworking as part of a team
  • be willing to contribute to the overall ethos, work and values of the Trust and school
  • understand changing educational policies and statutory guidance including financial compliance, DfE, ESFA and Ofsted requirements
  • have experience or understanding of Charity Governance

Dunraven School is a mainstream, all-through, state academy with sixth form for girls and boys aged 4-18. It is located in Streatham, South London, and was judged "outstanding" by Ofsted at its last inspection in 2014.  

In 2016, Dunraven School was designated a National Teaching School, reflecting the efforts of its staff to make lessons enjoyable and effective. It is also a National Support School, in recognition of its work supporting other schools. Dunraven is proud to have helped develop nine Headteachers in the past decade and has enjoyed a number of high-profile visits, including from a Prime Minister and an Education Secretary.   

The school became an academy in 2011. 

In September 2013, Dunraven opened its Primary Phase, which had its first Year 6 cohort in September 2019.   

In September 2018, our Multi Academy Trust was formally set up with the integration of Van Gogh Primary, followed by Goldfinch Primary school in January 2019.
