Job overview

Director of Finance & Operations

Cranford House is a leading independent day school and continues to enjoy a growing national reputation for excellence, ranked 2nd nationally for small co-educational independent schools in the latest Times Parent Power Survey (Autumn 2021). The school recently launched an exciting new Sixth Form provision, following the addition of a modern, spacious Sixth Form Centre and significant refurbishment of facilities across the school. The school has also undertaken a highly successful expansion of our co-educational offer into Senior School and is beginning a new ambitious phase of capital development that will see significant investment in school sport and performing arts over the next 5 years.

This post is available full time from September 2022, though we are ideally seeking someone to start earlier. We are looking for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and adaptable individual to lead with confidence, energy and clarity on the financial and administrative management of the school.  Responsible directly to the Headmaster, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and oversee the organisation and smooth running of several of the non-teaching aspects of the school. Working closely with the Headmaster, the role will involve long-term strategic development and planning for the whole school as well as responsibility for all commercial and operational matters affecting the school.

The post holder will be expected to lead a high-performing team, interacting with both teaching and support staff, and will be responsible for the School’s financial performance and its future direction. The post holder will be committed to supporting, through all aspects of their work, the educational aims of the school, and the needs of the students and demonstrate a commitment to the safeguarding aims of the school. He or she will be able to inspire and motivate support staff to understand the shared purpose behind their work. They will be committed to working with colleagues across Cranford House, be an ambassador for the School and wider Trust both internally and externally.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package and the opportunity to work in a school community with pupils who are happy, confident and motivated and with an approach to learning characterised by curiosity, resilience and a spirit of collaboration.

Closing date: 9am on 24 January 2022

Interview date: TBC
