Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Director of Finance. The post holder will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for the effective management and development of financial resources in line with the organisation’s vision. The postholder will oversee that all relevant regulations and legislation is complied with. In addition the role will be key in supporting the CFO, Principal and College leadership team with implementation and actions within the five year strategic plans for both the College and the Academy Trust, with a particular focus on the financial use of resources.

Strong communication skills, robust knowledge of policy, good planning and strong influencing skills will be of critical importance in driving forward the departmental objectives. Beyond ensuring the smooth-running operational effectiveness and service delivery, the role requires the post-holder to be a first rate leader, be intuitive, resilient, financially astute, problem solving and energetic.

The Director of Finance will provide direction and leadership for the College & Academy Trust finance teams and will be sufficiently flexible to deal with the range of challenges of a complex organisation. The postholder will need to have strong handle on the diverse funding streams and finance regulations in order to ensure the teams are focussed on the key projects and systems that will drive efficiency and effectiveness of the finance service. They will be able to respond quickly, effectively with creative innovative solutions which remain coherent with our core values and will work closely with Principals, Directors, Heads of Service and will form part of the Senior Finance Management Team.

You will have strong communication skills, robust knowledge of policy, good planning and strong first class influencing skills. These will of critical importance in driving forward the departmental objective and the development of a high performance and sustainable culture throughout the growing family.   Beyond ensuring the smooth-running operational effectiveness and service delivery, you will be require the vision to be intuitive, resilient, financially astute, problem solving and energetic.
