Director of History.

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive multi-academy trust, based in Wakefield. The trust is looking to add a Director of History to their progressive and supportive Trust-wide History department ideally starting in September 2021.

The role will include directing the delivery of History at KS3, GCSE and A-level across year groups 7 to 13. You will lead your department to enhance provision and will get the chance to lead on exciting project work throughout the year. 

“The Director of History is part of a team of lead professionals that take responsibility for the quality of individual subject provision, curriculum teaching and assessment. Directors of History are jointly accountable for History performance improvement, attainment and progress in their discreet subject areas. The Director of History will work across the Trust Academies, and have a target group of assigned Academies in a geographical area where they work closely with the Senior Leadership and Subject Leadership Teams to accelerate improvement and raise standards. Directors of History plan and teach high-quality lessons, deliver intervention programmes and challenge and support subject teams to achieve stretching targets for outcomes. Directors of History analyse performance data to ensure that students are appropriately targeted for support and work across the Trust to ensure consistency of subject quality and delivery throughout the network of Academies.

The school is offering:

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant History Degree or a related subject

• experience of delivering History up to A-level  pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• experience managing a department: specifically people and financial management

• a love and passion for education.
