If so, this role applies to you…We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Primary Practitioner with a proven track-record of teaching excellence to become our Director of Improvement – Primary. You will be an existing senior leader, potentially at Assistant Principal or Deputy Principal level, in a primary school keen to work in a wider-ranging capacity across a broader set of primary academies. You will help to inspire our committed and supportive team across our seven primary academies (at present), modelling and leading the improvement of teaching skills to raise student achievement to all groups and to narrow any gaps in attainment.

Your focus will be specifically on raising attainment in reading, writing and maths at all key stages, by working with teachers and leaders across the organisation. You will have no formal timetable of your own, but will be expected to support colleagues to deliver theirs to the very highest standards and be open-minded to step in and support with teaching from time to time. About Leigh Academies Trust

Leigh Academies Trust is one of the country’s largest and most-established multi-academy trusts operating across four ‘clusters’: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London and Medway.

The Trust was formed in 2008 with the linking of the Leigh Technology Academy and Longfield Academy under one governing body. As of 1st April 2024, our Trust comprises 32 geographically organised academies (16 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. It contains primary, secondary and special academies and is highly inclusive and successful. Our mission is to deliver “education for a better world” by ensuring that young people in our academies have an excellent start in life regardless of their background or ability.

We are a non-profit making charitable company, based in Strood, Medway. The Trust exists to support and assist schools to build upon their existing strengths and to help them achieve rapid educational transformation. It has significant experience in running schools, and today includes both sponsored academies and schools which have chosen to convert to academy status.

In addition to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all of our children, aged from 2 months to 19 years, and their families, we are proud to provide many opportunities for lifelong learning.  These are delivered through the organisations under our umbrella: Thames Gateway Teaching School Hub, LAT Apprenticeships and Kent and Medway Training (KMT), which delivers routes into teaching. Our future plans are found in our Vision 2030 document available on our website.
