Job overview

FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND LIFELONG LEARNING

REF: ATR/ATS91

The School of Education and Lifelong Learning at UEA is building on its success in initial teacher education (ITE) and wishes to appoint a Director of ITE. This senior position will work closely with the Head of School and Directors of Primary and Secondary PGCE.

You will provide strategic direction for our ITE programme; work closely with schools, multi-academy trusts and other key bodies in the region; lead our School Direct provision; have an oversight of our partnership strategy; and ensure and enhance the quality of our courses. All our ITE courses are taught at Masters level, and PGCE graduates leave with 90 Masters credits. Most go on to posts in the wider region, and many go on to take our part-time MA in Education Practice and Research.

For Academic, Teaching and Research Staff (ATR) candidates must have a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field. For Academic, Teaching and Scholarship Staff (ATS) a Master’s degree or an equivalent qualification is essential and substantial professional experience equivalent to PhD. You must also have prior experience of working in the Education sector and be able to satisfy all the essential criteria for the post for which you are applying.

The post is available on a part-time 0.8fte, fixed-term basis for three years from the 1 April 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The appointment will be subject to a criminal record check at enhanced level from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Closing date: 12 noon on 10 February 2017.

Further particulars and an application form are available on our website: www.uea.ac.uk/hr/vacancies/  or Tel. 01603 593493.

The University is a Bronze Athena Swan Award holder, currently working towards Silver.
