Job overview

Based at the RGS Guildford, applications are invited for the position of Director of International Studies.

The Royal Grammar School, Guildford (the RGS) is a leading HMC boys’ day school with a rich 500-year history. The RGS has a national reputation for academic excellence and a distinctive ethos in which each student feels valued and can flourish within a supportive, nurturing environment. A defining milestone in the recent history of the RGS has been the 2016 opening of The Royal Grammar School, Guildford in Qatar (the RGSGQ) and, with it, a new and exciting chapter in the life of the School as it extends its brand internationally.

The Director of International Studies is a newly created role to support the School’s continued international development. The Director will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, who takes the lead on international development. The successful candidate will bring academic expertise and an understanding of the international school market, preferably gained in the Middle East and Asia. The Director will help define the educational offer for new RGS schools, offer support and challenge as they grow and shape a vision for collaboration across the family of schools.

Alignment with the RGS values and ethos is essential, as is the ability to embed those values into a diverse family of schools throughout the world. The ideal candidate will be self-directed and able to fulfil both the strategic and operational elements of the role.  With a strong track record of successful school leadership, emotional intelligence, cross-cultural awareness and the ability to manage diverse stakeholder relationships, the Director will help bring into reality ambitious school projects. It is a fascinating opportunity that will help to shape RGS Guildford’s international future, bringing challenge and reward in equal measure.

Although based in Guildford, the role will include some travel to visit the RGSGQ and future international schools.
