Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


• To develop and maintain IT & Management Strategy in line with stakeholder needs and in keeping up with current best practice for the FE sector.


• To contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan for the College.


• To develop and maintain a cyber-security resilience and incident response plan


• Overall leadership, management and responsibility of all IT staff, infrastructure, systems, hardware and software, including telecommunications, reprographics and archiving.


• Ensure the provision and availability of core services in accordance with defined services levels.


• Ensure the security and integrity of College IT infrastructure and systems, with support from JISC and other FE sector technical support organisations.


• To manage the day to day operations of IT systems, ensuring that planning, end-user impact, change management, training, quality management are properly addressed and monitored to ensure that deadlines, budgets and service levels are met and results delivered.


• To enhance the functionality of core systems to achieve the best outcomes for the users.


• Ensure effective processes are in place to ensure the delivery of projects and tasks to agreed timescales and service standards.


• Ensure maximum availability of IT systems and infrastructure, minimise outages and ensure optimal system performance.


• Ensure that the College develops and maintains processes and systems to acquire, use and store physical and electronic data and information, which meet legislative and internal requirements.


• Ensure that a high level of internal customer service is provided by the IT Division.


• Ensure that IT governance is set up and maintained to drive and regulate all aspects of IT Divisional activity.


• Ensure that full transparency is achieved on all aspects of activity of the IT Division and that effective and agreed prioritisation is applied.

• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with College suppliers of IT systems and infrastructure.


• Manage suppliers in the delivery of cost effective services, and work with them to resolve problems, optimise systems availability and meet business requirements.


• Work with College functions and curriculum to identify required change, manage IT Division staff and suppliers as appropriate to bring about this change.


• With support from the Assistant Principal (Estates & IT Support) prepare, submit and agree with Assistant Principal (Finance) an annual IT Support Budget Plan and manage agreed plan in accordance with College Financial Regulations.


• Develop and maintain full asset and inventory records for all IT resources, including electronic monitoring of utilisation. 


• Support and actively participate in all cross college CMT and Operational Curriculum and Business meetings.


• When required, prepare and present reports to the College Corporation relating to any significant changes to the IT Support Services.


• To undertake any other activity that would be reasonably required of the postholder.

b) Comply with College policies and procedures and health and safety regulations.


c) Support the safeguarding and promotion of students’ welfare.


d) Maintain confidentiality in relation to all College information and to comply with Data Protection Legislation.
