Are you ready for the next step in your teaching career? Are you seeking a new opportunity for September 2022 that offers progression? Are you an ambitious computer  science practitioner who would thrive in our supportive and highly successful department? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Due to the continued growth and success of the academy, we are seeking to appoint a talented individual in the role of Director of Learning - Computer Science. Our newly appointed Director of Learning will continue the development and implementation of the IB Middle Years Programme in computer science, and continue the development and implementation of KS4/5 Computer Science Programmes at GCSE, BTEC and A Level.  The Digital T level at Post-16 is seen as one of the most important developments for the UTC and will require someone who can work with industry professionals.

This is truly a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate teacher to become part of a well established, highly collaborative and successful team as we are confident that our teaching and support teams, our facilities and most importantly our students will inspire you. As an IB World School, applicants that have previous experience in delivering MYP are of strong interest to us but please note that this criterion is not essential as training will be provided.

We are keen to hear from you if:

  • You are passionate about your subject
  • You have the ability and drive to make a positive impact on students’ progress and outcomes
  • You have the drive to transform our learning and are dedicated to raising standards even further for all students

In return, we are offering:

  • A supportive and professional environment to be a part of and full embed yourself into from day one
  • The opportunity to teach at Key stage 3, 4 and Post 16 A Level and IB diploma groups
  • The chance to join and be part of an academy that has a strong, dynamic leadership team whose aim is to achieve excellence for all
  • A team of talented staff at all stages of their career, covering the specialisms assigned to this role
  • Well motivated and receptive learners across our academy

For our successful candidate, being a member of staff at The Leigh UTC and Inspiration Academy and the wider Trust means you’ll receive access to a great range of employment benefits from day one. Click here  to view the current benefits package, and be mindful that the list is always growing.

Naturally, we are seeking to appoint the best possible candidate and therefore the application process will reflect our desire to undertake all necessary measures to achieve this.

Visits will be hosted by a member of SLT. Social distancing and other Covid-secure safety measures will be observed at all times following latest government guidelines. Please ensure you offer a range of dates when you are available in your initial email to ensure we can coordinate a visit that works for both you and the Academy.

Candidates wishing to have an initial conversation with the Assistant Principal about this role can also arrange for a telephone call. Those wishing to do so should also contact Sabrina Catanho in the first instance.

If you have any queries on any aspect of the application process or need additional information, please contact Holly Neve (LAT Talent Team) on holly.neve@latrust.org.uk or 01634 412 263

At The Leigh UTC, we create opportunities for meaningful collaboration for staff, we provide a respectful working environment and we encourage innovation from every member of our team. Our Principal, Governors, teaching and support staff believe wholeheartedly in creating opportunities for lifelong success for our young people and believe that exam success is just one aspect in achieving this. We deliver amazing experiences for students whilst not compromising on outcomes. Our teamwork allows us to be greater than the sum of our parts - join us to achieve more than you thought possible.

Curriculum is king and we do things a little differently to other schools or colleges because we believe the most effective way to educate our students is to make our learning more hands-on. With the International Baccalaureate Middle Years programme (MYP) at KS3, GCSEs at KS4, and A-levels, T-levels and the International Baccalaureate Careers Programme (IBCP) at KS5, our ambitious curriculum offer caters for choice, leading the vast majority of students into STEM-related careers or courses.
