Additional information

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated & successful Director of Learning for English to the “Most Improved school in Wales for Level 2+”

Tonypandy Community College seeks to appoint a highly motivated, passionate and successful English leader to this Director of Learning post following the promoted post of the current post holder to Assistant Headteacher.

The successful candidate will be eligible for a recruitment and retention allowance up to £5,000.00 per year for a suitable candidate for a two year period.

The results in English continue to improve resulting the College achieving 49% Level 2+ in 2015. This was a 19% increase in this measure and the College won the PiXL award for "OUTSTANDING RESULTS IN WALES".

The English Faculty benefits from working out of a suite of rooms all resourced to a very good standard with interactive whiteboards.

The College and English Faculty also benefits from support from “Schools Challenge Cymru” initiative and its significant funding. The Faculty benefits from a Key Stage Three Learning Coach and additional literacy staff secured via the Pupil Deprivation Grant. Results in the KS3 National literacy Tests were good in 2015.

The progress made over the last two years in exam results is good and the successful candidate will work with a highly motivated and hard-working team, who are committed to the Faculty's sustained improvement.

There will be a significantly reduced teaching commitment to support the successful candidate to undertake the role to its required standard.

This is an exciting time in the College's development as we move from strength to strength, with an exciting few years ahead as we become a 3-16 school in September 2018.
