Director of Learning for Humanities

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, dynamic and inspirational Teacher to lead the Humanities Department which comprises of Geography, History, Sociology and Psychology. This is a key post and we are looking for applicants who have a proven track record of success, have a positive approach are committed to making a difference.

You should be passionate about all Humanities subjects and the role they play in developing a student's understanding of how society has developed and the role they play within it.  You must have good interpersonal skills and will be an inspiring leader and positive role model.  The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively drive change and be determined to drive up standards in line with our vision of becoming an outstanding academy. You should be committed to the raising of student achievement to ensure all are fully literate, numerate and ready for their next stage. You will be joining an institution which is equally committed to developing opportunities for staff CPD. 

Saint Benedict Catholic Voluntary Academy is a larger than average school with 1442 student on role, 280 of these in our Sixth Form. We are situated in a beautiful part of the outskirts of the city and as Derby’s only Catholic Secondary school our students travel to us from every part of the city and beyond.  Derby is a rapidly developing city with excellent resources, surrounded by beautiful countryside.
