Job overview

Oasis Academy Brightstowe is looking for an exceptional individual to join the leadership team as Director of Learning of Mathematics. This is a newly created position to lead the Maths Faculty and be a part of the extended leadership team.

This position demands an outstanding individual with a fundamental and unshakeable belief in human potential. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to take the initial step into leadership or for an existing Head of Department who wants to contribute to the success of the Academy.

As Director, you will work as part of our Leadership Team to drive forward improvements and progress in Mathematics. You will drive forward the quality of Mathematics teaching provision, the standards of attainment and achievement at Key Stage 3 and 4.

As this role is essential to the success of the Academy, we are looking for a candidate with the ability to motivate and inspire staff, students and the community, and then support and challenge them to achieve outstanding outcomes. This is an amazing opportunity to bring your experience, innovation and creativity, professionalism and strategic leadership to a secondary academy that is embarking on an exciting journey from good to outstanding.

Oasis Community Learning is an educational trust established in 2004 with the express purpose of transforming learning, lives and communities through the development of Oasis Academies. As a leading academy sponsor, this new post offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a successful national organisation, making a difference to communities on a local level, while individually improving the life chances of young people.

The successful candidate will need to understand, share and be committed to the Oasis ethos of inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope and perseverance.

For further information about the role, to request an application form or to arrange a school visit, please contact Emma Formby or Victoria Wakerley on 0203 194 3147.

What we stand for...

We often use the word ‘ethos’ to describe the character of Oasis Community Learning and our Academies.

Central to the ethos of Oasis Academy Brightstowe is the idea of a rich and balanced educational environment - academically, vocationally, socially, morally, spiritually, physically, emotionally and environmentally.

Our goal
The goal is to raise aspirations, unlock students' potential and work towards achieving excellence through encouraging a 'can do' culture which nurtures confident and competent people. The Academy aims to develop informed and active learners with a strong sense of self-confidence who can explore questions, seek solutions, solve problems and are not afraid to fail initially, because from failure springs learning and success.

Oasis believes that this can be achieved through high-quality facilities, outstanding staff, clear leadership, a positive, affirming environment and a partnership between students, parents and the Academy. Parents/Carers will be positively engaged in supporting each child.

Our ethos
The ethos of the Oasis Academy is rooted in Christian-based core values, which permeates every aspect of its life. These include valuing everyone and protecting individual rights to freedom and choice, working actively against discrimination and social exclusion, and respecting the beliefs and practices of others. The Academy provides a welcoming environment for students of all faiths and no faith and serves the whole community.
