Job overview
Director of Learning: Science
Due to relocation of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join The Ebbsfleet Academy as Director of Learning for Science. You will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of Science across KS3, 4 and 5 and ensuring all pupils make great progress.
We are looking for dedication and a passion for Science; someone who will lead
and manage the team to secure outstanding outcomes for all our students. You will have a proven track record across Key Stage 3,4 and 5, the ability to motivate and inspire staff and students alike, and an unwavering commitment to improving achievement for all.
The science department at The Ebbsfleet Academy is an exciting and dynamic place to work, with results showing an increasing upwards trajectory since opening, although they are not yet good enough. We know they can be. We have a strong team of committed teachers, who are dedicated to improving student outcomes, and excellent facilities, including a suite of spacious, modern, highly-specified laboratories. We have developed a knowledge curriculum, with an emphasis on drilling and retaining key core knowledge, and our pupils have responded to this with great enthusiasm and enjoyment. One of our biggest successes has been to increase students’ engagement in, and enjoyment of, science. We have achieved this by increasing the amount and quality of practical work in science, developing a hugely successful science club, and launching big projects such as our Garden Project, in which every student in Year 7 has built a small raised-bed which they use to grow vegetables and flowers. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and committed professional to join us on our journey as we continue to raise standards, inspire students and develop young scientists of the future.
