The governing body is seeking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic Director of Learning Welsh Baccalaureate to join our outstanding department.  The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher, have first rate leadership skills and have the aspiration to become a senior leader. We are an inclusive school and we welcome applications from both Catholics and non Catholics. 

Cardinal Newman School is an 11-19 mixed Voluntary Aided school, with 800 pupils currently on roll. The school is over-subscribed. The school has an excellent reputation for both our academic results and our pastoral care. We are a Central South ‘Hub School’ offering school to school support to other schools in the consortium. We are also a Welsh Government New Deal School. Our rolling three year average for L2 Threshold (Including Maths and English) is over 70% We are a ‘Green School’ and ‘Standards Group One’ in the new Welsh Government banding. We consider ourselves an ‘Excellent’ school and eagerly await having this confirmed in our next inspection. 

The successful candidate will lead the subject at both KS4 and KS5. Experience in teaching the subject to at least one of these levels is essential. Welsh Baccalaureate / Skills Challenge is an increasingly important qualification at both Key Stages. Governors are seeking an energetic and committed individual with the ability to enthuse staff and pupils. Governors will consider applications from teachers from all subject backgrounds.

We are a Welsh Government ‘New Deal’ school. We achieved 71% L2 Threshold (Including Maths and English) and 97% Science L2 in 2015. We are ‘Standards Group One’ and a ‘Green School’ in the new Welsh Government categorisation. We consider ourselves an ‘Excellent’ school and eagerly await having this confirmed in our next inspection.
