Director of Mathematics.

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive Multi-Academy Trust, based in Wakefield. The school is looking to add a Director of Mathematics to their progressive and supportive MAT ideally starting in January 2022 or earlier if possible.

The role will include directing and supporting school delivery of Mathematics across all phases with a strong focus on KS4/GCSE. You will support schools within the MAT to enhance provision and will get the chance to lead on exciting project work throughout the year. Project work may include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. However, as Director you will have full autonomy to ensure T&L across your schools meets targets and exceeds the needs of our learners. You will lead by example, supporting and empowering your department’s teachers, staff and pupils to achieve to the best of their ability.

The Director of Maths is part of a team of lead professionals that take responsibility for the quality of individual subject provision, curriculum teaching and assessment. Directors of Maths are jointly accountable for subject performance improvement, attainment and progress in their discreet subject areas. The Director of Maths will work across the Trust Academies, and have a target group of assigned Academies in a geographical area where they work closely with the Senior Leadership and Subject Leadership Teams to accelerate improvement and raise standards. Directors of Maths plan and teach high quality lessons, deliver intervention programmes and challenge and support subject teams to achieve stretching targets for outcomes. Directors of Maths analyse performance data to ensure that students are appropriately targeted for support and work across the Trust to ensure consistency of subject quality and delivery throughout the network of Academies.”

• on-going CPD with programmes of study such as NPQSL and MA in Educational Leadership

• progression support throughout the school and wider group

• support package for NQT’s/RQT’s including CPD and NQT mentorship;

• the chance to take on further responsibility such as Leadership roles in the future.

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant Mathematics Degree or a related subject

• experience of delivering Mathematics up to ideally A-level, pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• experience supporting departments: specifically around teaching and learning

• a love and passion for education.
