Job overview

The brand new  Director of Maths post is a unique and exciting opportunity within the Fylde Coast Academy Trust (FCAT) for an ambitious, innovative and forward-thinking leader to drive and deliver the best teaching, learning and outcomes in maths across the Trust.

Join Team FCAT

As a current Leader of a maths department in a school or across a number of schools we are looking for an inspirational and transformational individual; with a proven track record of generating a high performance team culture leading to successful maths teaching and strong and sustained student outcomes.

As the Trust’s first Director of Maths this position will ideally suit an individual seeking a new challenge or the next step in leadership to create and influence the Trust’s strategic direction for maths. You must be able to secure rapid and lasting impact in developing the maths curriculum, teaching and provision to narrow the gap between Trust average maths scores in line with national indicators.

The Director of Maths will work collaboratively with the Director of Science to ensure a consistent and best practice strategic approach across core subjects. This will be with a particular focus at secondary but with the essential underpinning of an all-through approach. You will work across a number of academy SLT’s and will teach across schools, supporting departments, coaching colleagues and delivering Trust wide CPD. The Director of Maths will also have a critical role in the Trust’s membership of PixL.

FCAT is a large Multi Academy Trust committed to promoting excellence in teaching, learning and leadership. We have 10 academies locally with primary, secondary and all-through including: Aspire Academy, Unity Academy, Montgomery High School, Garstang Community Academy, Hambleton Primary Academy, Westcliff Primary Academy, Blackpool Gateway Academy, Mereside Primary School and Westminster Primary Academy. Our brand new all through school Armfield Academy opened in September 2018. The Trust also supports Fleetwood High School and Longridge High School as part of an Associate Membership.

The successful candidate must have the desire to work with pride, ambition, respect, resilience, integrity and excellence so we can be the “best we can be!”.

We offer you access to a number of staff benefits including childcare vouchers, exclusive online offers and discounts updated weekly as well as health and wellbeing initiatives.
