Dame Alice Owen's is recognised as a National leader in Music Education and Music is a popular choice at both GCSE and A level. We run 4 orchestras, 4 bands, 5 choirs including chamber music and annual musical productions.
We have 10 students in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain (2017), were proud to have a BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist amongst us; are National Festival winners and have performed (and opened!) the Schools' Prom on several occasions.
10 students a year are selected on musical aptitude and we have a large number of students attending the Junior Conservatoires, including the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music.
We have our own large, well equipped music department and concert hall with 3 FT and 3 PT staff including a music technician and administrative assistant. In 2017, 74% of GCSE Music results, 50% of A Level Music results and 67% of A Level Music tech results were graded A*-A. 97% of all students secured five or more A*-Cs at GCSE, and 82% of A level entries were graded A*- B.
We are seeking a highly motivated, committed musician to lead our thriving Music department in a school which places special emphasis on the subject.
