This is an exciting new role within the College which offers the chance to strengthen and clarify the focus of pedagogy, insight and end-to-end student experience through research informed pedagogy, not just UK based but using research from international best practice building work class skills through innovation and securing our position as a leader of lifeline learning.


The City of Liverpool College currently serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners each year. WE offer the widest choice of subjects in the city, with our students engaged in a broad range of academic and vocational courses at all levels, all delivered to the highest standard of learning. The size and breadth of the college puts us at the heard of the city and brings us in contact with partners and stakeholders of all kinds, including large corporations with familiar household names as well as ongoing collaborations with Liverpool City Council. WE work closely with local training providers and employers in the private, public and voluntary sectors, offering the widest range of further education course, all offering practical experience as part of the programme.


The postholder will be responsible to the Deputy Principal, it will line manage an established team within the department and be a member of the Strategic Leadership Team which drives a culture of high performance and expectations across all areas of the college. The postholder will, form time to time, deputise for the Deputy Principal as required, and provide appropriate support and challenge to SLT colleagues to ensure consistent and outstanding approaches to research informed pedagogy and end-to-end experiences for all students.


The successful postholder will have proven, consistent delivery of success as the accountable person, a good understanding of OFSTED and SAR and a robust knowledge of research-informed approaches to addressing disadvantage and support leaners to succeed. Applicants must also have extensive experience of successfully leading Quality and Performance assurance and improvement activities, along with the ability to bring about strategic change.

Opened in 1992 after being formed from a number of colleges in the city we now have 5 locations situated in the heart of Liverpool. Currently the college serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners a year. In 2018 the college achieved a pass rate of 99.6% beating the national average of 97.6% for a-level results. Within this year as well we had a 100% pass rate in modern languages.

However, the college itself is not just facts and figures. The mission statement of provide high quality skills and education by delivering opportunities for growth to all people and business of the Liverpool City region, shows inclusivity and a community understanding. The ease in which to get here helps quite a lot to. Be it driving, buses, trains or even a ferry you are never short of options. 

Being that working/living in Liverpool does offer a wide range of experiences to have. Historical buildings like the Bombed out church, Royal court theatre house or even a hidden gem like the Bluecoat School lane which boasts being the oldest building in Liverpool. The Beatles museum is a popular place to explore the band and possible find bits out about them you might not have known. Or if just unwinding and relaxing there are multiple pubs/bars, restaurants, and comedy nights to enjoy.
