Job overview

DIRECTOR OF SCIENCE

Full Time.

Leadership L7-11

Required from April or September 2022

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and inspiring leader of science. As Director of Science, you will be part of the senior leadership team. You will be central to ensuring the best standards, outcomes and engagement in science.

You will first and foremost be an excellent Science teacher who leads by example. You will have a track record of always putting young people first, and the ability to inspire and take students and colleagues with you to continually improve our students’ learning in science.

At KEVICC you will have the chance to work alongside a great group of colleagues who are all committed to the absolute best for our young people. You'll work in a school that is proudly comprehensive, inclusive and kind. Most importantly, you will get to work with our fantastic students, with the chance everyday to see the impact you have on their experience of learning.

You will also be joining a forward-thinking school that is excited by the opportunities collaboration brings with like-minded partners. We are excited to have just begun the process of joining Education South West, a trust of local primary and secondary schools that includes a nationally recognised teaching school hub at Kingsbridge.

We want an exceptional leader, with the energy, vision, work ethic and good humour to inspire and drive standards across science.

We offer: ·

• A highly supportive team of colleagues who are visible, hard-working and committed to our young people.

• Ongoing bespoke professional development and career pathways, including National Professional Qualifications.

• The chance to work with great young people in a comprehensive setting, in a beautiful part of the country.

• Recently refurbished science labs, and a multi-million £ investment programme planned across the school over the coming 3 years.

• The opportunity to lead science learning across a truly comprehensive mixed age range, from Y7 all the way up to Y13.

KEVICC, as we are widely known, is situated in the South Hams town of Totnes, serving a wide and varied area that includes everything from urban Torbay to isolated rural hamlets. You can get a glimpse of what we are about via the website, Twitter (@KEVICC), Instagram (@kevicc.totnes) and YouTube (KEVICC Totnes).

We would welcome and always encourage prospective candidates to get in touch ahead of application. To do so, email our Principal’s PA: Amanda Lane ALane@kingedwardvi.devon.sch.uk

King Edward VI Community College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS certificate is required for this role.

About King Edward VI Community College

King Edward VI Community College is situated in the South Hams town of Totnes with a wide and varied catchment area. Our community is richly diverse, encompassing not just Totnes itself, but the wonderful countryside that surrounds it.

This is a very special place to work: we celebrate our focus on comprehensive and inclusive qualities. Our students are a fantastic mix of personalities and talents, and we value each and every one of them.

We are committed to making a real difference to their lives: supporting them to flourish, and we go that extra mile to make this happen. We aspire to be consistently outstanding in all that we do, and encourage staff and students to be creative in their approaches to learning, We want to harness the potential of our community to develop a truly unique school, infused with co-operative values that prepare children to be happy and successful adults.
