Job overview
From September 2018 we seek to appoint a suitably qualified individual to this key strategic position. We are looking for an excellent teacher of Science with the skills and qualities to lead a team of experienced subject specialists. This post would suit a 2nd in Department aspiring to the post, a Curriculum Leader seeking a new challenge or an outstanding classroom practitioner.
With the recent completion of our new school, which has fantastic facilities for all subjects especially in Science, it is an exciting time to join Swakeleys. Science is a popular subject with very good GCSE results, excellent take-up and results at A Level and outstanding value-added across Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Levels.
We are an all girls school with a mixed 6th form and in 2017 we achieved a P8 score of +0.6.

At Swakeleys we are proud of being a comprehensive girls school. Girls have the opportunity to flourish in a single sex community to become happy, confident and successful young women. They are encouraged to achieve academic success within a supportive, caring environment. They are given opportunities to develop their interests and talents in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and above all, they are safe and secure. The Sixth Form is a great strength and provides a wide range of courses in a coeducational environment.
We are a high achieving school in which there is a focus on excellent teaching and learning and high standards of behaviour. We want to get the best from every girl, raising standards even higher whilst maintaining our caring ethos. We encourage our pupils to take responsibility, to make a valuable contribution to the running of the school and to become respected members of our community.
We are over-subscribed, have a very good climate for learning, an outstanding range of extra-curricular activities and in May 2022 were judged Good by Ofsted in all four judgement areas.
I hope very much that you will take the opportunity to learn more about our school and consider joining us. From my experience those who choose Swakeleys are not disappointed.
