The Governors of this successful, converter academy (11 – 18 including a growing Sixth Form) seek to appoint an ambitious, resilient, experienced and outstanding teacher to lead Science.  The Head of Science will work with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and our growing team of staff to ensure excellence across the academy. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, flexible and committed to ensuring that our academy provides the very best opportunities for every single student and able to demonstrate a clear vision for the future development of the subject. They will have strong leadership and management skills and the determination to drive improvement.  

We are therefore looking for an outstanding practitioner with drive and commitment and an unrelenting focus on the progress of all students.  We are also seeking a candidate who is keen to offer the best opportunities for students to experience both in and out of school. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across the age and ability range and will be able to illustrate how they have successfully raised standards of achievement to the highest level. 

The person appointed to the post will:

• Have a strong teaching and learning background and a keen interest in research to develop  teacher skills and pedagogy 

• Have a commitment to developing positive relationships with students and parents to secure the best outcomes for all students.  

• Evidence substantial experience of successful middle leadership as set out in the job description and person specification.
