Job overview

With 37 academies and over 18,000 pupils, Greenwood Academies Trust is a large Multi Academy Trust. We are looking to appoint an outstanding and ambitious leader who will be a key driver in our goal to become nationally recognised for having excellent provision in our special academies and for all our pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across our mainstream academies.

The Education Director role is a combination of school improvement, executive governance, and strategic system leadership. In this post, you will focus on supporting our special academies to provide an outstanding education for their pupils and become centres of excellence, supporting other local and/or GAT schools. You will also further develop and provide strategic oversight to GAT’s overall SEND strategy, working closely with our SEND Education Adviser.

The role would suit individuals with detailed and up-to-date knowledge of education and school improvement through successful special leadership experience as a Principal, Executive Principal, NLE or comparable experience (e.g. HMI, Adviser, LA). Ideally, you will have experience across a range of school contexts, including those serving the most disadvantaged communities.

We are open to exploring part- or full-time and would consider flexible employment arrangements, such as fixed-term employment, secondment, or consultancy.

About us

Our academies are located across the East Midlands, serving some of the most disadvantaged communities. As a 3–19 trust, our Education Directorate consists of colleagues with primary, secondary, and special expertise who work collaboratively to support academies in delivering an outstanding education to all our young people.

As a GAT employee, you will receive access to an employee assistance programme as well as excellent opportunities for career progression and access to bespoke CPD from the Learning Alliance to enhance your professional growth.

For further information or an initial discussion about the role, please contact vacancies@greenwoodacademies.org to arrange to speak to Annette Montague, Interim Chief Education Officer.
