About the Post

Twynham School  and Sixth Form is a very special place with an excellent reputation both locally and nationally. We are a heavily over-subscribed school where achievement is exceptionally high, students are well-behaved and eager to learn and relationships are very special. There is an energy about Twynham School; we are entering an exciting decade for the school, our MAT and our community and successful applicants can be confident that they will be working in a truly great environment.

Twynham Sixth Form  has an enviable reputation. The largest school-based Sixth Form in East Dorset, with over 440 students travelling from across BCP and the New Forest every day to benefit from a truly ‘outstanding’ provision.

The Director of Sixth Form holds a pivotal and influential role within the Senior Leadership Team at Twynham School and more widely within the leadership across the Trust. The successful candidate will have an astute understanding of Post-16 provision and the changing landscape that needs to be navigated.

At heart you will be someone who has exceptional moral purpose, keeping young people at the centre of all that you do whilst possessing bundles of emotional intelligence to support colleagues, students and parents alike to be the very best that they can be. You will be ambitious and hungry for wider whole-school leadership but your ambition will be matched by your selflessness and your humility, being someone who thrives on the success of others.

This is a truly exceptional opportunity for a talented colleague.

We are looking for an individual who:

• Is passionate about transforming the life chances of young people and especially the power of high quality Post-16 education.

• Will relish the strategic responsibility for our large Sixth Form provision.

• Will thrive in shaping the cultural development of the Sixth Form ensuring the organisation has a unique identity and place within the community with a strong reputation for excellence.

• Is committed to ensuring that students leave Twynham Sixth Form thoroughly prepared for the next stage of their education, employment or training and to play a positive role in society.

• Can articulate a compelling vision for Post-16 education through exceptional marketing and recruiting student numbers that ensure the Sixth Form remains financially secure.

Headteacher's Welcome

Twynham School is an exceptionally special place; a school which believes in the unlimited potential of every child, where people are valued above all and ultimately a place where every child can be successful. Our long-tradition of success is built on two vital pillars; high quality teaching and learning and, most importantly, the value we place on the very special relationships between students and staff.

I feel incredibly honoured to lead such a remarkable school. At Twynham we care about the individual and pride ourselves in the warmth of our community in which all of our students feel valued. Of course examination results matter and at Twynham our students consistently achieve excellent results in all areas giving them access to far-reaching opportunities. However this is just one aspect of Twynham and students are supported to show ambition both within and beyond the classroom.

Mr Jy Taylor

Headteacher
