Overview

The position of Director of Sport reports to the Principal of the Upper School. The Director of Sport has responsibility for all sporting disciplines at Brookes Moscow & Saint Petersburg. He/she will lead our team of teaching staff and coaches to develop sporting excellence. Encouraging participation of pupils of all abilities. The Director of Sport will be responsible for the planning and future growth of sport within the curriculum at both schools. He/she will also be responsible for sport outside of the curriculum. The requirements and responsibilities of this position are outlined below and form part of the wider job description upon employment.


Requirements

  • University degree in Physical Education and/or Sport;
  • 5+ years’ work experience in an International sports department;
  • Previous experience working at international educational establishment with knowledge of the IB education system is desirable;
  • Experience of delivering sport to exam level;
  • Energetic and Passionate about school sport;
  • Experience in competing at high level sport competitions with schools;
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills;
  • High sense of responsibility & flexibility;
  • Experience in leading and organising school sports trips and tours;
  • Adaptable and flexible to the requirements of the schools;
  • Essential – experience leading and managing large teams of sports staff.


Responsibilities

  • To oversee and develop the sports program at Brookes Moscow & Saint Petersburg (Early Years, PYP, MYP, DP & AP)
  • To offer students every opportunity to engage in learning during all sporting lessons and/or activities;
  • To develop the sporting curriculum across all areas of the schools;
  • To collaborate with teachers and assist in the planning and resourcing of the sports department;
  • To line manage and professionally develop the rest of the sports staff;
  • To evaluate and record student progress;
  • To organize school sports events such as Sports Days and Swimming Galas;
  • To oversee the running of competitive sports teams, providing high quality coaching and competing in as many competitions as possible;
  • To run sports trips to competitions and other opportunities.
