Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation. We also believe in the development of the whole child, the fostering of an ‘active life’ philosophy and the promotion of a lifetime investment in sport and physical activity.
When it comes to sport, we believe pupils should have the opportunity to participate in a programme that matches their ambitions and aspirations. We want pupils to participate in sport for life and be challenged and supported where appropriate, to perform to their highest possible ability. We also want to be universally recognised as the leading co-educational boarding and day school for sport in the UK and one of the best in the world. Join us as Director of Sport Performance and Participation and you’ll be key in helping us to achieve these aims.
Your challenge will be to ensure the College delivers an outstanding sports programme to pupils of all levels of sporting ability throughout their journey with us. That means seeing that a coaching philosophy centred around the development of transferable life skills is embedded throughout the sports programme. It also means overseeing an effective Sports Scholarship Programme that caters effectively for our elite performers by focusing on mental skills training, nutrition, recovery, and strength and conditioning.
Along the way, you’ll need to foster a collaborative, collegial and supportive team environment, set high expectations of coaching standards, line manage staff teams, work closely with sports’ governing bodies and provide regular communication to parents. In short, you’ll need to do all you can to enhance our sporting reputation, both nationally and internationally, and establish the College as a market leader in both Girls’ and Boys’ Sport.
To succeed, you’ll need proven relevant experience, excellent leaderships skills, the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and an adaptable and flexible approach. In return, we can offer you a generous salary and benefits package and excellent career development potential. So, if you’re a dedicated team leader and player who strives for excellence, leads by example and is committed to contributing towards the College community, apply today.
Closing date: Wednesday 19 February 2020.
Interviews will take place w/c 24 February 2020.
