A unique opportunity to become Director of Sport at William Shakespeare’s former school in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon.
We are seeking to appoint for September 2018 an inspirational Director of Sport to lead our outstanding Physical Education Department. This post would be particularly suitable for a well-qualified rugby and cricket specialist with genuine ambition for themselves and the School.
K.E.S. is a forward-looking selective school for boys with a relatively large co-educational Sixth Form. We are proud to have a reputation for high standards and an outstanding co-curricular programme. The scale and variety of our sports is comparable with that found in the independent sector. Indeed, many of the School’s fixtures and contacts especially in rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, rowing and fencing are with independent schools. We regularly undertake international tours (last year to Argentina, Ireland (rugby), Barbados (cricket), Spain (netball) and Europe (fencing)) and our teams and individuals frequently enjoy national and international success (inaugural Daily Mail Cup winners in rugby, British fencing champions at Under 18, Under 15 and Under 13 for the last three years, Warwickshire County Cricket champions at Under 15 in 2014 and winners of both the male and female national Ball Cup in rowing in 2016, with the girls retaining their title in 2017).
The successful candidate will possess the talent, skills and enthusiasm to lead both our extensive extra-curricular sports programme and our curricular provision. The latter includes A Level Physical Education which was successfully introduced in 2011 and attracts high-achieving sportsmen and women.
The School has always played a major role in the life of Stratford-upon- Avon, situated as it is in the heart of the town. We enjoy the benefits of being a relatively small school with talented students and a team of dedicated staff who are all committed to the wider life of the School. It is a purposeful and busy place where you will find the highest standards of work, commitment and courtesy.
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and to equality of opportunity. Applicants must undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and DBS and barred list checks.
The closing date for the receipt of applications is Friday 2nd March 2018
Interviews will be held in the week beginning Monday 12th March 2018
Should you require any further information relating to this post, please contact the current Director of Sport, Mr Richard Mahony, via the Headmaster's PA on 01789 203107.
