Children are unique and every child deserves a school that is dedicated to developing individual abilities and confidence.

This ethos informs everything we do at Copthorne Prep; a flourishing independent day and boarding prep school. Set in 55 acres of West Sussex/Surrey countryside, including its own woodland, the school is located between Crawley and East Grinstead, five miles from Gatwick Airport and 30 minutes by train to London or Brighton.

Catering for boys and girls aged between 2-13 years, we believed in offering our children the very best all round education, together with a stimulating range of sports and activities. This structured approach gives every one of our children the freedom to lean and grow within a safe nurturing environment.

To achieve this, a close partnership is established between children and teachers and our class sizes remain small at around 18. Our commitment to providing exceptional pastoral care is also reflected in the strong sense of community that children enjoy at the school, coupled with a culture that encourages trust, tolerance and achievement.

Copthorne Prep is a christian based school and welcomes students from all faiths. It was founded in 1902 and is an excellent independent day school, which provides an outstanding education for our children.

The curriculum is deliberately broad and well balanced, delivered by qualified and experienced teachers who aspire to the highest standards. Our ethos develops children’s confidence and accepts that making mistakes is part of the learning process. The school provides opportunities in all areas for all children and encourages them to “be the very best they can be” at everything.

We care passionately about our pupil’s future success - it is why we encourage them to “aim high”.

Our goal? To help children reach their full potential so when they leave, they will be ready to engage with the world, wherever their lives may take them.
